Designed for shared sessions, slow evenings and regular recovery rituals, this spacious outdoor sauna combines traditional sauna materials with a separate changing room, comfortable alder benches and a choice of gas, electric or wood-fired heating.

Choose the heater that suits your space and lifestyle at checkout, or select the shell-only option if you already have a heater.

Choose your heater

  • FinSteam Aurora 81 R14S Gas Heater – An electricity-free heating option designed for convenient outdoor sauna use. The package includes the gas heater, engineered ventilation, safety components, regulator, gas hose and sauna stones.
  • Harvia PC70 6.8kW Electric Heater – A practical electric option for regular sauna sessions, requiring a suitable dedicated electrical supply.
  • Harvia PC90 9kW Electric Heater – A higher-powered electric option for faster warm-up.
  • Etna 12 Wood-Fired Stove with Flue Kit – Enjoy the traditional experience of heating your sauna with logs. The package includes chimney pipe and flashing kit.
  • Shell Only – Choose the sauna cabin without a heater if you prefer to source your own.

The gas configuration includes engineered ventilation designed for the selected heater. The electric and wood-fired configurations are supplied with ventilation appropriate to their chosen heating system.

Why choose a gas-heated sauna?

The FinSteam Aurora 81 R14S offers an alternative to conventional electric and wood-fired heating. It runs on propane and does not require an electrical connection to operate, making it an option worth considering for gardens where installing a dedicated sauna circuit may be difficult.

Feature Gas Wood-fired Electric
Typical warm-up Approximately 15–20 minutes Approximately 30–45 minutes Approximately 30–60 minutes
Electrical connection Not required to operate Not required to operate Dedicated electrical supply required

Gas heating: what's included?

Select the FinSteam Aurora 81 R14S gas configuration to receive the following:

  • FinSteam Aurora 81 R14S gas heater – 8.1kW output, with flame monitoring and an oxygen-depletion safety shut-off.
  • Orbis 14 stone cage – Designed to hold the sauna stones.
  • Halo safety rail – A protective rail around the heater.
  • Njord heat shield – Included as part of the heater package.

The gas heater package is priced at £8,290 including VAT. The FinSteam Aurora 81 R14S heater is also available separately.

Gas heating costs and setup

With the FinSteam Aurora 81 R14S gas heater, a typical 60–90 minute session costs approximately £2.00–£2.50, based on around 0.6kg of propane per session and a typical £47 refill for a 13kg Calor propane bottle. Warm-up from cold to approximately 70–75°C takes around 15–20 minutes under suitable conditions.

You'll need to source a standard UK 13kg Calor propane bottle locally. For a fixed gas installation, a Gas Safe registered engineer is required. Installation requirements depend on the intended setup, so check the heater's instructions and applicable safety requirements before use.

Compare the cost of gas and electric heating

When comparing heaters, remember to account for the cost of preparing your garden and installing the necessary services.

Cost Electric configuration Gas configuration
Sauna and heater From £6,295 £8,290
Electrical installation estimate £800–£1,500 Not required to operate the gas heater
Estimated total £7,095–£7,795 £8,290

These figures are estimates for comparison. Actual electrical installation costs depend on your property and the work required. Gas installation costs, where applicable, are additional.

Running costs for each heating option

  • FinSteam Aurora 81 R14S gas heater: Approximately £2.00–£2.50 per 60–90 minute session.
  • Harvia PC70 6.8kW electric heater: Approximately £1.75–£2.25 per 90-minute session at the stated 2026 electricity price-cap assumptions.
  • Harvia PC90 9kW electric heater: Approximately £2.00–£2.50 per session under the same assumptions.
  • Etna 12 wood-fired stove: Approximately £2–£4 per session for typical hardwood logs.

These are indicative figures rather than guaranteed costs. Your actual expenditure will depend on energy prices, the length of each session and how frequently you use the sauna.

It can also be used to keep sauna essentials close at hand or create a small cool-down area between sessions. For families and groups, having a separate changing space helps make the whole experience more comfortable and practical.
